The inaugural SCOTTY 'YAK' CLASSIC is getting closer. Nomination forms are available for download and already, the entry list is half full. Scotty fishing accessories have come on board as a Major Sponsor, and with Viking Kayaks Aus joining us well, this event will be one not to be missed.

The ENGEL BASS CLASSIC is also getting underway, with the invites going out at the start of February. This years event will be just as good, if not better than previous years. So dont delay in getting your entries back to us as soon as possible.

May 2009 once again saw the Bass Classic run and won. Although most competitors dont put too much effort into the winning side of things. As always, it was a great weekend. Results are now up! Check out where you finished up.

The start of November, 2009, saw the ABA/Tweed Shire Council/DPI Bass Catch held at Clarrie Hall Dam. Its always a great weekend, and this one was no different. About 30 anglers hit the water over the weekend with some recording great captures...while others seemed to struggle. Below is a basic run down on the size ranges and the amount of fish caught in the size range. All fish were released alive and well of course.

In October, 2008, the Australian Bass Assoc. began its tagging program on Clear Island Waters. Tagging the Bass will give us great information on growth rates and movements. Approximately 10 members from the ABA turned out for the morning session. Quite a few fish were tagged on the day and there has been a few more tagged since. Some of our members live/work close by and are always willing to have a flick.

Another group session is being planned as we speak, so look out for more details about that.

Saturday, the 12th of January, 2008 saw the A.B.A release yet another 30,000 Bass fingerlings into the Robina Lakes.

Gwen, as always, produced high quality fingerlings, which will ensure a great survival rate. The attention to detail from Gwen is simply second to none.

With our president Chris behind the wheel of his boat, the fingerlings were released at hand picked locations around the lake system. Ensuring a quick release with minimal stress was the highest concern. Not only did the boat get a run, but Chris got the chance later on to have a few casts.

With our junior members getting involved at an early age, with any luck the A.B.A will continue to achieve such great results for many years into the future. The kids had many questions for Gwen, some of which had us adults captivated by the answers.
