The ABA was first incorporated over 20 years ago and since then has been responsible for things that simply would not have happened, had it not been for our determined members.
Stocking fish into local impoundments and rivers was our main objective when we started off, but since then, with the introduction of the S.I.P, stocking has become a not so vital part of the ABA. Although we still partake in a few stocking programs, we are always looking for new directions and challenges to pursue.
Below you will find some of the more memorable activities that the ABA has been involved in...
Robina Lakes.
The A.B.A is nearly half way through a 5 year plan to stock Australian Bass into Robina Lakes, Qld. We believe this is the first official stocking of its kind. We could not of done this of course, without the help of the DPI/Fisheries.
A great sence of achievement was felt from all members when the first bucketload went in approximately 2 years ago. Already some of our members are catching these fish from the first stocking and although still only small, they have the potential to grow into something much bigger.
Hopefully we can bring this system to its full fishing potential, allowing not only the Bass to rein supreme in the local waters once again, but to establish a great fishery so close to so many people.
